Mouthwash for Thrush Recipe

Mouthwash for Thrush Recipe

Oral thrush—also called oral candidiasis—is an infection in the mouth caused by the fungus Candida albicans that causes white or yellowish bumps to form on the inner cheeks and tongue. Oral thrush is typically a minor health problem, but in some cases the symptoms may be more severe and difficult to control.

If you have oral thrush, good dental hygiene can play a big part in helping your infection heal. It is recommended to brush your teeth twice daily and to floss once daily, and to replace your toothbrush often. It is also not recommended to use normal mouthwash, but instead to use a special antifungal mouthwash that can kill the Candida fungus.

Often, oral thrush mouthwashes are prescribed by your doctor, but you can also make your own DIY oral thrush mouthwash at home. We have a recipe for an oral thrush mouthwash that is effective and easy to make:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. baking Soda
  • 3 drops clove essential oil
  • 1 drop peppermint essential oil
  • 5 pumps candida cleanse tonic

To make, simply add all the ingredients together and stir. Then swish the mouthwash in your mouth for 1 minute and spit it out in the sink. Do not swallow.

Salt

Salt has antiseptic properties that can help with many dental issues. Salt also has soothing properties that can help to relieve the symptoms of oral thrush.

Baking Soda

Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a disinfectant that can help to kill Candida albicans, the fungus responsible for oral thrush.

Clove Essential Oil

Cloves have long been used for a variety of oral health problems. It is commonly used as antiseptic and pain reliever. Cloves are also powerfully antifungal and can be an effective remedy for treating oral thrush.

Oil pulling should work with pretty much any oil, but extra-virgin coconut oil is a popular choice due to its pleasant taste. It also has a favorable fatty acid profile, containing high amounts of lauric acid, which has antimicrobial properties

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint essential oil is another essential oil commonly used for dental hygiene. It is also great for getting rid of oral thrush. Peppermint has strong antifungal properties. It actually has a cytotoxic effect on Candida yeasts that causes the fluidity of Candida’s cell membranes to collapse, killing them in the process.

Together these ingredients make a simple and effective mouthwash for oral thrush. Rinse with this mouthwash twice a day, after brushing your teeth, for best results.

Will Mouthwash Kill Thrush?

An antifungal mouthwash plays an important role in getting rid of an oral Candida infection. However, it may only be a symptom of a deeper fungal infection. If there is a microbial imbalance in your body, or if your immune system is compromised, then it is likely that Candida has affected other areas of the body as well.

Most often, the gut is the center for Candida overgrowth activity. In order to truly treat your Candida oral thrush, and to prevent it from reoccurring, you’ll need to get to the root of the issue and get rid of the overgrowth of Candida in your body, as well as recolonize your gut with beneficial bacteria to restore microbial balance.

We have a Complete Candida Cleanse Protocol that provides the necessary tools for cleansing Candida and restoring microbial balance, as well as an in-depth guide that tells you step-by-step how to follow the protocol for best results.

Candidiasis of any kind is an overgrowth of the Candida fungus, so, to reduce the population of Candida, you need to follow a certain process that helps to eliminate them and restore balance in your body’s microbiome.

If oral thrush is one of your symptoms, then following a Candida cleanse protocol along with using an antifungal mouthwash like this DIY oral thrush mouthwash will help you see the best results.
